Summer in the Gardens brings the arrival of the main herbaceous borders performing at their best, flowers and form in abundance. It’s the kind of sensory overload that makes you feel totally intoxicated by gardening, growing and growth. But behind the scenes there is often silent growth, quietly minding its own business and bravely defying concrete to grow.

I came across this wee native Cowslip in the glasshouse the other day and was struck by its beauty and strength. Where did it come from? How did grow there? Why have I not noticed it till today?

This little Cowslip has reminded me of the importance to make the time to slow down, and appreciate the beauty of our natural world.
