In the old tramworks factory floor, similar species of native and exotic trees are planted together in blocks to highlight their common and unique qualities. Pines, rowans and hawthorns of both Scottish and Asian origin are planted side by side.
Caryopteris x clandonensis has beautiful whorls of purplish blue flowers in the late summer and aromatic grey green leaves which give off lavender scent when lightly rubbed. Pollinators love this plant
Chinese Witch Hazel
Hamamelis mollis brightens up the winter with cheery, fragrant spider like flowers, and leaves that turn beautiful shades of autumnal colour.
Sarcococca confusa is an evergreen shrub with glossy, deep green leaves. In winter, tiny sweetly scented creamy-white flowers are followed by glossy black berries.
